What if we celebrated voting like we celebrate the 4th of July? Would it increase turnout? Today, you have to make a concerted effort not to celebrate Independence Day in the U.S. Americans spent $7 billion on their 4th of July parties in 2018 alone, yet only 37% of people cast a ballot in the 2014 election. Could we make celebrating and participating in election day as fun and ubiquitous as Independence Day?
