15 Reasons to Cull Images On Import For Bird Photography

15 Reasons to Cull Images On Import For Bird Photography Here is my decision making process for culling and deleting images prior to importing the images into Lightroom.
My reasons and decision-making process for culling/deleting images prior to importing into Lightroom.

1. The image is out of focus or The bird isn’t sharp enough

2. The Exposure can’t be fixed

3. The birds eye isn’t sharp or doesn’t have a highlight

4. The wings, feet, head are clipped

5. The point of view is bad and I can’t correct it by cropping

6. There’s distracting stuff (branches, houses etc.) in the background

7. The hand of man is in the photo - wires, telephone poles etc.

8. I keep only one if if have 10 images that look the same, I try to find the sharpest one, then delete the rest.

9. If the bird has a bad head angle I delete it.

10. If there’s dark shadows under the birds’ wings I delete it if I have images with the wings totally up or all the way down.

11. If the bird is too small in the frame I delete it.

12. If the image is too dark, to gray or there’s no color in the image i delete it.

13. If the image has too much digital noise or luminance noise - graininess I delete it.

14. Birds colliding, they aren’t separated enough

15. Light is at the wrong angle
