The Micra Gets Sporty: Nissan Micra N Sport First Drive

The latest generation of the Nissan Micra is striking and dynamic, but the drive didn't quite live up to the styling. Two years on, Nissan has addressed that by fitting it with a new engine and there's also a new trim level.

It's called the N Sport, and no it's not a full blown hot hatch, instead it's a warm hatch. Powering this sporty Micra is a 1.0 litre three cylinder turbocharged petrol, which produces 117hp with 180Nm of torque (200Nm on overboost).

This power is mated to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox (no auto option), meaning you'll crack 62mph in 9.9 seconds and a top speed of 121mph. As well as the new engine, the N Sport features sporty styling, carbon look details, 17" alloys and a chrome exhaust.

It looks the part, but how does it drive? I went to a rather wet Portugal to find out, with Dave from AutoBears coming along for the ride.
