The Labour 'gang of seven' are not the centre ground | Owen Jones talks ...

Seven Labour MPs have resigned from the party to form an 'Independent Group' in parliament. They are attempting to present themselves as a 'centrist' group, an antidote to the 'hard-left' politics of Jeremy Corbyn's Labour but, actually, are far removed from the centre ground in comparison to public opinion. This move will do nothing but provide a boost for the austerity ideology of the Tory government, in the same way as the SDP did for Thatcher's Conservatives in the 1980s.
