We all have to assess students in the music class. How do we do it with minimal fuss and disturbance to what really matters – a good quality sequential and developmental music program?
How many assessment tasks should we cover?
What sorts of tasks should we include?
How do we implement the tasks?
How do the tasks relate to the curriculum?
How does the assessment flow on to reports?
In this session we cover a number of activities that are used for assessment through singing, moving, dancing and playing instruments. Based on a model for ‘Foundation’ (first year of school), we will cover concepts such as beat, rhythm, pitch, active listening, improvisation, effort and commitment.
