How to Determine Age Ratings for Your Movie Collection: Taking Violence into Account | Screen Time

You have your movie collection and now you have a child as well, how can you put some age ratings on those movies so your child knows what they are allowed to watch, and you feel good about showing them your collection?
In this video I will share my advice for how to develop age ratings for your movies on your shelves, so that you can share your favorite films and collection with your child. Things to take into account especially include at what age do you think it is developmentally appropriate for your child to see death and/or violence on screen. Most movie rating systems seem to not appear to consider violence to be a horrible thing, with movies such as Star Wars and The Incredibles receiving very young ratings despite the amount of violence and deaths in these films. Sources such as Kids-In-Mind, VidAngel, CommonSenseMedia can be helpful in developing age ratings for your movie collection.
This video includes a walk-through of my shelf of children’s movies from ages 4 all the way up to ages 11 including comments are on my various movies got rated at various ages.
