An asteroid a mile wide with its own tiny moon will fly past the Earth this weekend. The asteroid is known as 1999 KW4 (the Walnut Asteroid). At 7:05 p.m. ET on May 25, it will be just over 3 million miles from Earth. The pair will be travelling at 48,000 miles per hour. Though 1999 KW4 is designated a potentially hazardous asteroid, there's no chance it will hit Earth. Is the asteroid too small to be photographed with backyard telescopes?
