Crochet a Simple Lightweight Summer Shawl | Open Mesh Shawl Crochet Tutorial | One Skein Project

Learn how to crochet this very simple yet effective lightweight summer cover-up / shawl. Worked using just double crochet, single crochet and chains (USA Terms) with an easy one row repeat you can keep growing it from the bottom up until it is the size you want! Ideal for beginners.

This looks particularly beautiful in hand dyed lightweight yarns however, you can use any yarn and any hook size you wish 😃

Open Mesh Shawl WRITTEN PATTERN

USA Terms:

Start with Ch5, ss to 1st ch

1/ Ch3 (counts as dc) 2dc, ch2, 3dc, ch2, 3dc

2/ Ch1, turn. Ss under next 2 stitches and into ch2 sp. [Ch3 (counts as dc) 2dc, ch2, 3dc] all into same ch2 sp.

Ch5.

[3dc, ch2, 3dc] into final ch2 sp.

3 / Ch1, turn. ss under next 2 stitches and into ch2 sp. [Ch3 (counts as dc) 2dc, ch2, 3dc] all into same ch2 sp.

Ch5, sc into ch5 sp, ch5.

[3dc, ch2, 3dc] into final ch2 sp.

👉 Repeat row 3 adding an extra ch5 per row.
