Venezuela's Maduro claims victory over coup attempt | DW News

President Nicolas Maduro has praised "loyal and obedient" troops for stopping an uprising orchestrated by what Maduro dubbed the "coup-mongering far-right." Opposition leader Juan Guaido has called for a general strike in the country in opposition to Maduro. Meanwhile, Venezuela's top court ordered the re-arrest of influential opposition figure Leopoldo Lopez, days after he escaped house arrest. Lopez has taken refuge in the Spanish embassy and is calling on Venezuelans to continue the fight against President Nicolás Maduro.
