From the beginning, the goal of Lowside has been to use the game of golf to connect with people and to tell stories about that in the process. Actually creating content around that idea has constantly been both the vision and the struggle. Fortunately, for our first short doc, I had as good of a story as I could think of sitting right in my own backyard. Ive been friends with the Lazzo crew for a long time. Besides my dad, Max and I have played as many rounds of golf together as I have with anybody I know. When we were kids, his mom used to drop us off at the course until my mom would pick us up. On weekends, we used to prank call his brother Matt and crash his sister Megan's high school parties. Ive never considered them golfers, more so friends, but golfers is exactly what they are.
They have won high school state championships, played in college, and are regulars at the top of state amateur events. If I were to make this post short, I would simply say that the name Lazzo is synonymous with golf in the state of Kansas.
Last June, I sat all three of the Lazzo boys down to ask what the game has meant to them and more importantly, them as a family. This video is the result. A result nearly a year in the making.
