Information starts as data in plant floor devices. From there, Industrial Ethernet conveys data to controllers, then to HMIs, then to enterprise systems. The critical role played by the Industrial Ethernet network infrastructure is the focus of this session. Siemens, GE Intelligent Platforms, and Phoenix Contact will briefly show how PROFINET feeds the information driven enterprise in their environments. Three users will provide concrete examples of supporting PROFINET benefits including production flexibility, increased uptime through timely diagnostics, functional safety, and more. Application spaces covered include factory automa-tion, process automation, and motion control.
