Bhad Bhabie On Her New Snapchat Show: 'I'm Tired Of People Thinking I Do Nothing'
Today (Feb. 4), Snapchat is launching the first of a new original series, Bringing Up Bhabie, starring 15-year-old rapper Bhad Bhabie. The 12-episode set will air every weekday through Feb. 19.
Born Danielle Bregoli, the rising rapper has come a long way in the short time since debuting her fiery personality on Dr. Phil in 2016. She’s been nominated for a Billboard Music Award (for top rap female artist), landed collaborations with Lil Yachty and Kodak Black, and recently inked a $900,000 endorsement deal with Copy Cat Beauty. But, successes aside, Bregoli had a hard time shaking the public’s negative perception of her.
“I’m just really tired of people thinking that I don’t do nothing,” Bregoli tells Billboard. “People think my team does everything for me, and it’s really not like that.”
Her team -- including her mother Barb, manager Adam Kluger, bodyguard Frank Dellatto and movement coach Deja Riley -- is prominently featured throughout the series. And even though Bregoli says, “Think they hot shit, It’s actually really annoying. My mom be thinkin’ shits about her,” she also feels it's “important that people see what managers are used for.” And when all is said and done, she’s hoping the series will paint a fuller picture of her as an artist who has grown beyond her rocky reality daytime television start.
One person who can speak best on Bregoli’s growth is Riley, who recalls being introduced to Bregoli by Atlantic. “Dani barely said a word during [our first] meeting,” says Riley. “She was staring at me, scoping me out while licking an ice cream cone and munching on a bag of chips.”
Riley says that when they first started working together, “[Dani] could barely walk on beat.” But that for being 15-years-old, “Her work ethic and drive exceed most artists in the industry that are twice her age.” (Riley would know; she’s danced alongside everyone from Beyonce to Shakira.)
As for what has surprised Riley most about Bregoli? “Dani really has such a big heart. Behind all of the wild lyrics and tough chick persona, she loves hard. The general public hasn’t gotten a chance to get a glimpse into her fun-loving, softer side.”
And while Bregoli says she would always joke about her and her team having a reality show “because me and everyone around me are just funny all the time,” now that it’s happening, she feel it holds more weight. “All the stupid shit that people be saying, because it’s really what they believe ‘cause it’s really all they’ve seen,” Bregoli says, “hopefully this changes their opinion [of me].”
