=========================
I'm answering a question that comes to us VIA Twitter. The question is basically, "Can My Podcast Have Two Different Formats" for one particular feed.
This is always an interesting question because I realize there are a number of podcasters that are out there that have a ton of ideas they want to talk about but don't know which type of format they should do.
First I think it's important to understand what a "format" is and realize that it is not a topic. A format is the style in which we conduct our podcast.
For instance, your podcast may just be audio of you talking and sharing tips in the photography niche. You never interview any guests nor do you invite anyone on your podcast. This would be considered a solo podcast.
But if you have a co-host or some guests that show up on your podcast, your format is going to be interview-based.
Then there is always the Storytelling format where the host is telling a deeper story. These types of formats typically take more time to record and are far more robust when it comes to the editing process. While they are a labor, are also fun to listen to.
I wouldn't worry too much about whether one format will work over another one. Ultimately, you will set the standard for you and your audience. If you're an interview-based podcast and happen to not have an interview for one week, let your audience know that you weren't able to secure a guest for the week, rather you will be sharing different tips with your guests.
