THE IDEAL ARCHERY FORM
AND THE LIVING ARROW BACK- SWORD QUIVER
How should be the ideal archery form?
In our opinion, for the shooting phase, it means to draw the bow opening symmetrically the arms on the target line, continuing the action with a proper double release on the same direction.
Ideal for the loading phase is to nock the arrow closing the arms along the same trajectory described previously during the shooting phase.
So, in essence it means to keep the arms in a form of a circle, which is opening at drawing and closing again at loading.
In practice it appears that just the Shower Shooting technique are applying this ideal condition.
Since the arrows are kept already in the right hand, there are no reasons to lower down the right hand after release (for reaching a new arrow kept in a hip or waist quiver).
One problem related to this technique is that for using more than three reserve arrows, the loading and nocking became more difficult. Also, in manny horseback archery competitions is not aloud to use this technique.
The sword quiver has the advantage to aloud the arrangement of the arrows according with the horse archer's strategy.
Small groups of two- three arrows are putted in separate compartments-pockets in such a way that can be grasped together easily and comfortable, for performing Shower Shooting in ideal circumstances, (for example for the hunt track).
On the other hand, a proper adjusted back quiver proved to be very effective on all the short tracks where more than four serial shots should be added in a high rhythm.
The Living Arrow back-sword quiver is supposed to perform well in both situations.
Basically is a new version of the Living Arrow back quiver, made with the arrows more inclined to the right side in order to assure a faster and smoother loading, allowing to keep the arms all the time in the ideal, circular position.
If necessary, it can work also very well as a left side sword quiver, without any kind of adjustments.
It is a combined or "double" quiver, suitable for practicing the ideal archery form in different situations with different techniques. -Mihai Cozmei
