I'll be there when the big moments come around - Federer confident ahead of Aus Open
"I feel good. I mean the beginning of last year started well so I'm hopeful that it can happen again. That second half was maybe not as good but I was solid. I just think the most important thing for me moving into this year is to be ready in the mind when the big moments come around. I think that's just going to be key for me. The body of course, there's no garantee ever there. But with the mind I know it can be ready. But the body, I'm trying everything to be in good shape and so far it's been great and I can't complain and we'll find out the draw tomorrow and obviously know more after that.
[On the danger of so many quality players being unseeded] "If they're near my secition that the changes things a little bit. Obviously if you play Stan {Wawrinka] first round or Nick [Kyrgios] first round or [Jo Wilfried] Tsonga first round it obviously changes things a little bit instead of playing a qualifier. So from that standpoint we're eager to find out the draw. All we look at in regards of who you are is the first or maybe maximum second round. After that you don't really mind who's in your section because you've got to beat them all if you want to win here. But yes those dangerous 'floaters' are always a bit of the talk of the town, especially at the beggning. But at the same time I also think it is confident to go into the event and know you can beat them all from the get-go. And I think I showed that at the Hopman Cup.
[On plans for 2018] "I mean I think what is important for me is to have a good schedule. Family for me always comes first. How do we make this schedule work the best for them. For my tennis I have options, I know what the pillars are for me througout the year and then what I need to do in terms of fitness and how many tournaments I can play, how much I want to travel. This can all be adjusted from that stand point because we had a busy year end with a lot of travelling. Basically I've been only home in Switzerland for two weeks since basically the beginning of August. The goal is to be in Siwtzerland a bit more for the family this year. We're just trying to work through the schedule. That's why I haven't taken a decision yet at the beginning of the clay court season and the beginning of the grass court season and some of spring as well. I'm still just working through it with the team. Other than that I just want to enjoy myself, have a good time on the road and I don't think I've ever had more fun than right now to be quite honest on the tour. Because the kids are travelling with me, we have so many friends that come now at the back end of my career, come visit me on the road and I have like six or seven friends coming from Switzerland who have never been to the Australian Open and say 'who knows, maybe this is your last, second last or third last'. I don't care, I just want to be here and spend timre with you guys and I think we're very lucky to have friends around ourselves. And that makes our travelling not so painfil to be honest."
