The high fibre levels can also add bulk and relieve symptoms associated with constipation.
3. Surprising to some, but consuming walnuts regularly can also help to decrease inflammation throughout the entire body, even chronic inflammation. This is often attributed to the high levels of antioxidants found in them and other important nutrients. Walnuts are packed with polyphenols that can help to reduce free radicals in the body and oxidative stress, while at the same time reducing inflammation. Not only that, but walnuts are also high in omega-3 fats, amino acids such as arginine and magnesium, which can all help to reduce inflammation.
4. They are also very heart healthy and can help to improve the health of the heart many different ways while also reducing the risk of developing heart disease. Studies have shown that regular consumption of walnuts can help to prevent oxidation of “bad” LDL cholesterol. They can also help to improve the overall health of our arteries and blood vessels by reducing the risk of atherosclerosis. Consuming walnuts regularly can also help to regulate and lower blood pressure levels. The high levels of antioxidants and fibre are also helpful in this regard.
5. Lastly, consuming walnuts regularly can help to support healthy brain function and even reduce the risk of developing certain brain disorders, such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia. Healthy polyunsaturated fats, vitamin E, polyphenols and other healthy nutrients have been found to reduce inflammation and oxidative damage throughout the body including the brain.
