Tim Lewis to be named as La Salle head coach; Alab coaches part of staff

After not making it to the UAAP Men’s Basketball Final Four after three years, the De La Salle University Green Archers are looking to rebuild.
However, Louie Gonzalez will not be the one guiding the next batch of Green Archers as La Salle is set to tap the services of veteran tactician Tim Lewis, according to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation.
And Lewis is no stranger to Philippine basketball.
After coaching Thailand in the 2017 SEABA Championships, the British head coach was hired as a consultant to the TNT Katropa. His stint with the MVP-owned club team lasted for only a month.
He made his return to Manila during the fourth window of the 2019 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers as Lewis became the chief tactician of the Qatar national tema.
After the fourth window, he was replaced by Panaylotis Ylannaras.
Prior to this, Lewis has also worked with Great Britain’s national team and was also an assistant coach in G-League teams Bakersfield Jam and Raptors 905. He also worked with the Orlando Magic and the Houston Rockets via its affiliate Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
Danny Seigle (consultant), Chappy Callanta (strength and conditioning), and Mc Abolucion (skills) will compose his staff. Also part of his team is Lamont Waters, a former US Air Force serviceman. All four are part of San Miguel Alab Pilipinas’ staff.
La Salle did not make the Final Four this season, finishing with an 8-6 record. The Green Archers could not survive a knockout game against the FEU Tamaraws to advance to the next round after figuring in the Finals for the last two years.
Gonzalez was put in charge to coach the Green Archers back in January after Aldin Ayo left for UST.
