France: Security bolstered at Strasbourg Christmas market after attack
Strasbourg police heightened security measures around the newly re-opened Christmas market on Thursday following an attack on Tuesday which left two people dead and a dozen more injured.
The suspect, named by police as Cherif Chekatt, had an extensive criminal record - 27 convictions in total - and the authorities have said they believe he was radicalised in prison.
German police have also reportedly joined the manhunt for the Strasbourg native amidst fears that he may have fled to Germany.
Chekatt was deported from the country to France, in 2017 after serving time in prison for theft.
